Creativity is Biological
I love this saying.
I love that creativity is a basic biological drive within each person. Everyone has this need.
When I got married and started sewing for my children I used to drag out my sewing machine and set it up on my kitchen table. But then I had so many projects it was hard to put everything away and so we ate dinner around my sewing machine and carried bits of my thread and pieces of my projects wherever we went. My babies slept snuggled in pajamas I made and romped throughout the house and yard in pants and t-shirts I would make in the wee hours of the morning.
I did it because it helped us save money (sometimes), but mostly I sewed because it was so satisfying to me. It fulfilled a deep need within my soul to express myself through sewing.
Today I have a big room with 4 different sewing machines(I definitely want more!) and several tables, dressers to hold fabric(I can always have more!) and closets to hold supplies.
I have come a long way from those days with my little sewing machine on my kitchen table. I think my husband worked so hard for me to have my own space because he has lived with all of my creations scattered throughout our bedroom, kitchen and living room. He has always encouraged me and is one of the reasons I have been able to dream so big.
So wherever you can start, with whatever tools you have to start with the message of this post is to start. Do not wait for Someday. Someday is a myth. It will never really come. Start now to establish a creative space. If it is with an old sewing machine, great! If it is with only a few tools, great! Just start, now! Make a little place mentally in your life for your creativity and start collecting the tools to share your soul with the world.
